Intros (15 mins)

Ask if there are any players who are new to the sport.

Encourage everyone to learn everyone else's names.

Running warm up + dynamics.

- 1 full lap of field or fun game for 3-5mins (Sadly we can't play tag, but you can play go-go-stop/what time is it Mr. Wolf/red-light-green-light or any other fun game that is doable at a distance!)

- dynamics (high knees, bum kicks, side shuffles, lunges, etc.)

Go over basics/fundamentals (how to hold the stick - L hand on top, no use of round side, no feet, etc.)

Technical Passing + Receiving (15 mins)

Players stand 5-10m away from each other and pass ball between. One ball between two players. Set a gate of 2 cones in the middle to act as a target.

Start 5m away, beginning with push passing and receiving. Emphasize the importance of proper reception technique: feet behind the ball, left elbow up, left had out further than right hand, body relatively upright but with slightly bent knees.

For passing, discuss the Left-Right-Left footwork. This should be reminded to them in every drill that requires passing or shooting!

Use this time to evaluate if any players are significantly ahead or behind the group in terms of ability.

Make this fun by turning it into a competition: How many passes can you and your partner do in a minute?? Repeat a few times to let them try to beat their scores.

If you have a group or individuals who are more advanced here are some progressions (keeping in mind that while this might not be super exciting, basic skills are incredibly important to master):

Progressions:

- increase distance (must maintain accuracy between the gate)

- sweep hits

- passing off right foot (in motion)

- reverse sweeps

- upright forehand hits

Ball Carrying (20 mins)

Set up a number of lines of cones. Each player (or pair/group of 3 players) should have their own to maximize both social distancing and each players touches on the ball.

Purpose of this exercise is ball carrying. Ball should be at about 1-2 o'clock, just off to the right of each player, as they are dribbling forward. Encourage them to keep their left elbows high and a bend in their knees (eyes + chest up).

1 - straight dribble up and turn left (all forehand)

2 - straight dribble up and turn right (using reverse stick to turn)

3 - slalom through cones using both forehand and reverse stick skills

4 - big pulls from red cone to yellow cone. Emphasize pulling straight across and not forward on a diagonal.

If in pairs or groups of 3, turn this into a relay race to make it a bit more exciting.

Progressions:

- Turn right using only forehand (feet have to move!)

- Left and right foot pivots to turn around

- Lifted skills

- V drags

- Right hand only

- Left hand only (forehand and reverse)

Competition (30 mins)

- Break the group into 2 teams.

- Create 2 obstacle courses towards goal where the last skill is a pass/shot into the goal.

- Divide the balls evenly between each group.

One team will go through one obstacle course while the other team does the other. Each player counts their own goals and adds up their team's score at the end. Switch sides so each team does each course. The team with the most total goals wins.

- Change up the skills in the obstacle course and/or the type of shot and repeat.

- Encourage players do do this as quickly as possible, no walking!

- Don't forget the Left-Right-Left footwork!

Skills that could be included in the obstacle courses (aim to have 4-5 skills per course)

- pulls left and right

- v-drags

- pivots

- lifts

- slalom through cones

- one hand carrying

- spins

- minefield
