SET UP:

Four areas with flat discs spread across the floor and the players split evenly between them.

All players move around inside the area without a ball.

Players move from disc to disc and perform different challenges.

e.g change direction, change movement, jump over, quick feet around, balance, change speed.

KEY POINTS:

Identifying space that you can move into.

COACHES CONSIDERATIONS:

Vary the activity every 30 seconds - 1 minute so that players do not get bored.

Slowly increase the intensity of the challenge as you get towards the end of the warm up.

SET UP:

Using the same set up as before, all players are now given a ball.

The players need to dribble around the area going to as many of the dots as possible.

When the players get to the dots then they can perform a challenge.

e.g change direction, change speed, toe taps, side to sides, players go over/around the ball, skills move.

KEY POINTS:

Keep the ball close to your feet so that you can control it when you reach the dots.

Look around to identify a dot with no people on it and dribble into that space.

Challenge them to use different parts of their feet as they dribble.

COACHES CONSIDERATIONS:

Get all the players moving around dribbling at the same time.

Use the challenges on the dots but don't forget to focus on the key coaching points.

SET UP:

Introduce a defender within each grid.

Defender to start of with a bib with the aim to throw the bib onto the ball.

Attackers dribble around between the dots - when their ball in on a dot they are safe from defenders for 2 seconds.

If the attackers are having lots of success then change the condition of the defender.

e.g defender to use ball splat to defend, defenders to tackle, introduce more defenders.

KEY POINTS:

Look around so that you dribble towards dots where their is space.

Dribble with the purpose of moving to a new dot - the players should know where they are going.

Identify when you need to change direction to new space because of defenders or attackers.

COACHES CONSIDERATIONS:

Control the defenders to make sure that the attackers have success.

Once it is to easy for the attackers then alter the conditions for the defenders.

SET UP:

Add goals at each end of the quaters and split the players into two teams.

One point for every disc a team dribbles forwards over - bonus point if they score a goal.

e.g dribble over two discs then score a goal is worth 3 points for that team.

KEY POINTS:

Look around the identify discs which you can dribble over quickly to get points.

Encorage players to dribble when they recieve the ball - passing over the discs will score no points.

COACHES CONSIDERATIONS:

Remember to focus on the success of the dribble regardless of if it leads to a goal.

Successful dribbles can happen in all parts of the pitch.
