Warm-Up (20 mins)

Organization:

• Playing area as shown about 30 x 30

• Players divided into 3 teams of equal numbers

• Players on th inside of the area have a ball

Instructions:

- One team on outside two teams in the middle, all players in the middle have a ball

- Each player in the middle dribbles, they then pass to one of the outside players who passes back to them [3 progressions]

A) Progression 1-inside player passes to outside player and spins off to find a new angle, outside

player plays into space

B) Progression 2-Inside player passes to outside player and continues run, outside player passes

back with one touch (give and go)

C) Progression 3-Inside player passes to outside player, overlaps and recives back in thezone

Coaching Points:

1) Body shape when recieving the ball

2) Quality of pass

3) Quality of movement off the ball

Small Sided (20 mins)

Organization:

• 30x20 yrd area as shown

• 6 players - (2 attackers, 2 defenders, 2 targets) set up as shown

• 1 ball (additional on the outside)

• NOTE: Grid A could contain your midfielders, and grid B could contain your other players

Instructions:

- Teams Score by Getting the Ball into the target players

- The Target Players then play back to the opposite team

- If the ball leaves the field of play then the targets start the game with a kick in

- Play for 2 minutes and then switch target players

Coaching Points:

1) Body shape when receiving the ball

2) Assess the situation as ball travels, timing of movement in support

3) Choice to play forward or keep possession

4) Checkng shoulder, awareness of surrounding

5) Directions of first touch to enable next action

Progressions:

1. P – Make targets specific to each team

2. P – Players are allowed 2 touch

Expanded Small Sided (20 mins)

Organization:

• Teams still divided into 3

• Combining the two previous areas to make one larger area

• Extra balls on the outside

Instructions:

- Yellow score a point by getting the ball from one target to the other, if they are successfull and get a point they can immediatly play the other way, and get as many points as possible.

- If blue intercept the ball the can do the same but first have to set a direction in order to get a point. - --- - The team that has possession of the ball, must play one target player to set the direction of scoring then play the other for a point.

Coaching Points:

1) Movement off the ball to create angles to breakdown defensie lines

2) Choosing the pass that cuts out the most defenders.

3) Movement to create width and depth

Progressions:

P-Blue play to pugg Goals, Yellow play to target players.

Conditioned Game (20 mins)

Organization:

• Set up as shown, Same areas as previous activity with the central area removed

Instructions:

- One team attacking, one team defending, and one team as neutral players/GK

- Play always restarts from the central player for the attacking team (4/5)

- In the middle the attacking teams plays 3v4 but they have a target striker as a neutral and two wide neutral players.

- The defending team can score on the pug goals, but cannot shoot until they are outside of the shaded area as soon as the ball goes out the 4/5 must quickly restart play

- At first only one defending player can leave the central zone--Progression defending players can follow their attacking counterparts into the attacking zone.

Coaching Points:

• Mobility to create angles of support.

• Mobility to unbalance defenders.

• Third man/blind-side runs.

• Penetratring passes.

• Speed of play.

Game (20 mins)

Organization

- Two-thirds of the field.

- White eam attacking big goal.

- Blue team attacking PUGS.

- Server/Coach shown in Black.

- Poles/Cones on outside represent offside line.

Instructions

1) 5v5+1

2) One Team plays 0-3-2 the other plays 1-2-3

3) There is one neutral player-Who plays between the pugs and the midline

4) Enforce offside line; ensure back line pushes up.

5) Play restarts from deep neutral player if it goes out of play.

• Mobility to unbalance defenders.

• Third man/blind-side runs.

• Penetratring passes.
