Defensive Shape

This is our shape compact and defensive. Notice on the next slide, What happens to our shape and positioning once the ball is won. 

Possession and this style starts with early movement and proper shape/support. If you do not have that it will NOT work.

Phase 1

Build up Phase (Possession, Patience, Penetration, Rotation, Communication)


#1 - Should be comfortable with feet. We need use the keeper as an extra player in possession. 

#2 - Open up wide to touch line. Get higher up the field than oppositions CF's so they must make a decision. Be a support for CB's to play out. Your 3 options are (Up, In, Back) when you receive the ball. 

#4 - Be Patient, BUT BE DECISIVE. Create an angle with other CB to play back if needed. Keep the ball moving. You are looking for #6 (Hold mids feet)
