Defend The Circle
Question
What are the 3 D's of Defending- how do you do achieve each part and what is the priority order?OrganisationCentral Attacker passes the ball to the wide attacker. The attack must try to beat the defender 1-v-1 and try to penetrate the circle. Defenders priority is to stop the attacker getting 5 points by going through gate 1 and therefore channel them to one of the wider gates to gain a lower amount of points.IntentionPractice of channelling in a match specific situation.Observations
- Defender players should avoid getting too close to the player attacking the circle. To avoid the player beating them on the reverse.
- Defender should sprint as soon as the ball is passed, and slow down when the attacker has the ball under control.
- Ensure sideways body position, stick fairly low to ground. Body position should be preventing the attacker from cutting back with the ball infield.
Progression
Move the attacker back and play 2 v 2 = bonus point if for the attackers to pass back or make an error- how can you do this with out tackling?
