Defend The Circle

Question

What are the 3 D's of Defending- how do you do achieve each part and what is the priority order?

Organisation

Central Attacker passes the ball to the wide attacker. The attack must try to beat the defender 1-v-1 and try to penetrate the circle. Defenders priority is to stop the attacker getting 5 points by going through gate 1 and therefore channel them to one of the wider gates to gain a lower amount of points.

Intention

Practice of channelling in a match specific situation.

Observations

- Defender players should avoid getting too close to the player attacking the circle. To avoid the player beating them on the reverse.

- Defender should sprint as soon as the ball is passed, and slow down when the attacker has the ball under control.

- Ensure sideways body position, stick fairly low to ground. Body position should be preventing the attacker from cutting back with the ball infield.

Progression

Move the attacker back and play 2 v 2 = bonus point if for the attackers to pass back or make an error- how can you do this with out tackling?
