In this session the players will learn how to press cover and balance in different types of scenarios. They will learn the key signs of how to set up and be successful as a defending group.

Organization: On a 20x20 or bigger grid depending skill level. Have 3 teams of 4
Instructions:
The defending team in the middle will try to maitain a pressure/cover/ balance system. The players that are on the outside will be able to pass the ball back to the possession team and will be allowed to move on their line. For every 10 passes the offense will get a point. If the defending intercepts the ball they become offense. If the offense was to pass the ball to the outside and control the ball badly or just lose possession of the ball then the possession loses the ball and gives it to the defending team.

Progressions:
have the players on the outside do 1 touch to speed up the game.

Instructions:
In this conditioned game. The teams will be able to score on 3 goals. The team in possession of the ball will go ahead and try to penetrate the defending team with passes or on the dribble. The defending team needs to have good shape in terms of the Pressure/cover/balance. As soon as the defending team intercepts the ball they will now transition into offense and try to score.

Progressions:
-have limited touches on the ball

Organization:
5v5 or equal number of players in a team. Field space is depending on your area, but make it big enough to have good movement. Prefarably 30x40
Instructions:
5v5 game at goal no restrictions
Coaching Points:
-Same as previous exercise, but let the team play on their own to observe if the team understood the concept of the training. Make stoppages that relate to the defensive side. You could go ahead and correct the offense to show the defense what sign they should look for when they set up. This will give game like scenarios that will make players think.

Organization: Have 3 teams of 4 or equal number (minimum 3). 14 cones and plenty of balls on the side line
Instructions:
The team in the middle will be the defending team. The other two teams will be the offense. The offense will pass the ball in their grid without real confrontation of the defending team. The offense will attempt to pass the ball between the defending team to the other team. If the offense is successful the offense will get a point. If the defense were to intercept the ball that will be a point for them.
Each team will get 5 mins in the middle.
