Attacking
Exploit space, get 1st touch out of body, into space to make up ground
Assess the defenders position, angle and distance of approach
Keep ball close to body as you approach the defender
Use forward move to beat the defender – use your body or the ball
Accelerate past the defender and exploit the space created
Give an end product
Defending
1.Close down ball quickly, but be under control
2.As the defender travels to close down attacker – assess the attackers first touch
•Bad first touch – nick the ball
•Good first touch – delay approach
Body shape – knees bent & side on/stance- low
Jockey and delay to win the ball
Threaten the ball
Use the back foot and inside of the foot to perform a block tackle

Objective
To improve a players paaing ability on the move
Organization
Set up like shown above. 1 Player at each cone, 2 at th starting point with a ball
Coaching Points
Eye on the ball
Standing foot planted beside ball – Point toe at target
Lock kicking foot
Strike through middle of ball
Body Weight over the ball
Get in line with the flight of the ball
Receive on back foot
Touch into space in the direction you want to go
Interval Duration

Activity
Play starts with coach passing into defender - who receives and passes into one of the attackers - who then play 2v1 to goal. If defender wins ball can counter-attack the two min-nets. Rotate defenders regularly.

30x15 grid. 5 attackers try to maintain possesion of the ball as long as possible. The 3 defenders try to put pressure on the ball, if defenders win the ball they try to score on either small goal.
Main Points:
-Spacing of attacking players crucial to ability to keep possession.
-Players without ball must move to create good angles but be aware of where other players are to make sure they maintain adequate spacing
-First touch away from defender towards space
-If attacking team loses ball they must try to win it back immediately, once they win the ball back they must expand to utilize the full space again
