PL Animal Warm Up (10 mins)

Organization: Have each player stand at a cone (red) with another cone (yellow) a couple meters away. Ensure the yellow cones are at least 2m away from the across players yellow cone. For warm up, have players place their ball on their red cone.

How to Play:

For warm up, pretend you are going to the zoo. Have players act out different animals from their red cone to the yellow and back. Examples bear (crawl), bunny of kangaroo (hop), bird (move arms), snake (slither on ground), crab (crab walk), or an other animal they can think of. To make it more fun, have the players make the animal noises!

Zookeeper (Simon) Says (15 mins)

Organization: Have each player stand at a cone (red) with another cone (yellow) a couple meters away. Ensure the yellow cones are at least 2m away from the across players yellow cone. For warm up, have players place their ball on their red cone.

How To Play: Just like Simon Says. Coach is the Zoo Keeper! Coach will say Zoo Keeper Says before giving an action for the players to do. If the coach does not say Zookeeper Says, the action should not be carried out by players. If a player does the action when Zookeeper Says was not said, the player can do a silly dance. Start without a ball and then add movements with ball.

Ideas without a ball: Stationary movements, moving around ball without hitting it, movements to the yellow cone, etc.

Ideas with a ball: throwing and catching, bouncing the ball, movements with ball, toe taps, happy feet, other moves, etc.

Progression: Depending on the group, have a player be the zoo keeper

Zookeeper's Coming! (15 mins)

Organization: Have each player stand at a cone (red) with another cone (yellow) a couple meters away. Ensure the yellow cones are at least 2m away from the across players yellow cone. For warm up, have players place their ball on their red cone.

How to Play: The Zoo Keeper Is Coming! Coach is the zoo keeper. Have the players pretend they are animals around through cones. Every time the zoo keeper says AHA or Freeze, the players must freeze. If the zoo keeper catches any animal moving, they must do a silly dance! Depending on the group, you can try having players be the zoo keeper and the coach joins as an animal.

Progression: Add a ball that players need to dribble around with them as they move. You can make players driblle a certain way (certain part of foot, backwards, toe taps, happy feet, etc.). When told to freeze, players need to stop ball and hold still (can use bottom of foot, belly, bum, etc.). Make it fun!
