Warm Up (15 mins)

Warm Up

Every player with a ball, small rectangle inside larger one. Players begin by dribling in large area for 30 seconds using the outside and laces and moving at pace, then they switch to small area for 30 seconds and use the sole and inside of foot.

As players improve technically, prompts can become more and more challenging (Toe taps, L, V, Cruyff etc.)

Progress to using following prompts:

Switch - Move from large area to small area or vice versa

1 - Stop ball and run around it

2 - Stop ball and sit on it

3 - Stop ball and pick it up

4 - Stop ball and perform actions for 3,2, and 1.

Emphasise that to be the first player to complete each action the ball must be continually close to the player's feet (In your zone).

1 V 1 Chaos

Two teams, one defendeing (Red) the other Attacking (Black). Black team tries to steal balls from the centre and dribble them to any of the 4 corner zones. Red team cannot stop Black from collecting balls but can provide active opposition to them once they have the ball. Black wins by delivering every ball to the outside zones, Red wins by keeping at least one ball in the centre. So attacking becomes progressively more difficult as number of balls remaining decreases.

Coaching Points:

- If unopposed, use laces and outside to drive into space and reach the corner zone quickly

- If opposed, use inside and sole to manipulate ball, change direction, and keep it in your zone where you can protect it if necessary

4 Goal Game (20 mins)

4 Goal Game

Four teams each starting at their own goal. When game starts, any number of players from each team run in to collect a ball and attack their OWN goal, once ball is in the net it stays there. Team with the most balls in their goal once they are all gone is the winner. So teams must defend their opponents' goals to prevent them from collecting balls, if ball is stolen by defender they can try to dribble it to their own net.

Reinforce previous coaching points and encourage awareness of space and presence or absence of defenders.
