THE SESSION:
- We are working in the attacking 3rd just before the 18 yard box. In the central area. The 7, 11, 9 and 10 will all play keep away against the opposing teams 6 and 8 trying to combine 5 passes together. Once 5 passes have been reached, the attacking team tries to play a through ball into the wide shaded areas for the 7 or 11 to run onto and get a cross into the box for the remaining 3 players to try and score.
- The 4 must remain in the 18 yard box and can not pressure the wings when the through ball is played.
PROGRESSIONS:
- Increase the amount of passes need before playing a through ball into the wings
- the 4 can pressure the cross in the wing area.
KEY MESSAGES/POINTS:
- Communication
- Recognizing where the space is and playing a properly weighted ball to penitrate the defensive line.
- Can the 7 and 11 stay wide to create width and try and spread out the defenders in the middle and also make playing a through ball easier to deal with.
- After 5 passes have been made. Can we recognize the movement trigger of a player with time and space being able to pick their head up to start making our runs into the wide areas as early as possible
