Progress by X playing a 1-2 with A (and Y with C) and dropping deeper before receiving and passing to B(D).
Further progress by playing anti clockwise i.e. ball starts with B and moves via A and D to C.

Now add 2 defenders and a cone between the mannekins.
The defenders pressure the midfielders X and Y as they receive the ball - ALWAYS RETURNING TO THE CONE BEFORE PRESSURISING THE NEXT PLAYER.
The wide players and X and Y must combine to switch the play.

Play 4v2 in the central area.
Reds play by switching play from one side to the other as per the drill, the 2 blues attempting to win the ball and attack the farthest goal using all their players. So as reds switch play in half A, blues would attack goal B.
When a successful switch is made the full back/winger makes a long pass ( with no pressure from the wide blues) to the player in the box in the opposite half. Then the reds attempt to 'score' by switching to the opposite box. All wide players must stay in their zones.

Now allow reds freedom to switch play to either wide player BUT the blue wide player can pressurise either. All wide players can move up and down in their channel. Blue strikers must stay in their attacking half but can now pressurise the reds.
After coaching movement and speed of passing allow game to flow as much as possible.
Restarts are with the red wide players (throw ins could be used) or GKs who would also feed the red wide players.
Take a break when the ball gets to the 'target' player and review shape.
*coach reds to recognise the picture such that if a switch is made in half A but the route into half B is blocked then a switch back to the other wing in half A is an option.

Play 10v8 (9v7 outfield players) 4-3-2 for reds and 4-2-1 for blues.
Normal rules apply - look for opportunities to switch the play and coach midfielders into scanning for the big picture.
Switch play unopposed drill (30 mins)
X shows for the ball from A, opens body to receive as Y deepens also.
X plays to Y, who feeds out to B.
Same pattern once B has played to C.
Rotation : all players follow pass, D joins queue once he has passed to A.
*body position to receive
*safe first touch
*bump pass is necessary
*remake runs where necessary
