Passing

Objectives


- Different types of passes

Material Needed


- Balls

- Cones

- Bibs

- Hoops


Set Up


- Teams of 5 players, one ball p/team, students stading next to a cone


- Students need to pass the bal to their teammates, when the ball gets to the last blue player , he/she will need to run to the beginning and restart the process.


- First team to take their first player back to the beginning will win.


Progressions


1- Chest Pass


2- Shoulder Pass


3- Bounce Pass


4- One defender is added.


Coaching Points


- Specific techniques for each pass.


- Which type of pass should we use depending of where the defender is and his body position.


- Introduction to pivoting

Screen 2

Set Up


- Students will be in groups of 7, area needs to be big enough to be easy for students less confortable witth the ball being able to find a pass. ( Students with more familiarity with the sport can play in a smaller area


- In the middle of the area will be a Hoop, with one of the students inside.


- To score a point, the team needs to find a way of passing the ball to the player inside the hoop without the defenders being able to win the possesion of the ball.


Progressions


- If player inside the hoop receives the ball with one foot outside the hoop, that point doesn't count


- Instead of a 5v2, adding one defender to a 4vs3


Coaching Points


- Are the Students using the correct type of pass


- Movement off the ball


- Angles to being able to receive the ball.


- Player in the hoop, always available to receive the ball
