Turning Progression
Organization: Groups of 6 (3 on each end); 20-25 Yards apart; 10 yards wide.
Limited Pressure:
i. Turn or time - Player checks at an angle to receive hips open and plays to the line they came from (must check your shoulder - why?)
ii. Man coming = (Second player follows at a distance but gives a little space) stop the ball dead while facing forward and bend it inside or outside (player on line needs to give a passing option OR turn to the side with inside or outside and play target who opened up on that side and then get it back for a small give and go (should encourage change of pace)
iii. Man on = lay off & spin, flick it first time & get it back, Spin the player on the turn to the side with inside or outside and play target who opened up on that side and then get it back for a small give and go (should encourage change of pace)
iv. Man on = Shielding: Second player follows player checking to the ball. Player on the ball, shields and then spins out and beats defender. (passive defending).
B) Turning with limited Pressure and Decision Making
- attackers checks at an angle while defender does one of three
i. Doesn't go with defender which means attacker can turn
ii. Defender goes but gives space which would mean it's man coming or man on
iii. Defender follows closely
C) Live pressure
i. First player is attacker, second player is defender, third player is target. Attacker gets one point for turning and beating defender by dribbling across the endline OR playing target and getting it back to dribble across the endline.
Coaching Points:
ABC - What are you looking for when checking your shoulder? How does opponent affect how you receive the ball?
Technically sharp: Shoulders over the ball & lock ankle while passing, protect ball by using arms and body in between opponent and ball.

1v1 to 2v1 Back to Goal Progression:
Rules: Player A passes to Player B who is the attacker with back to goal. Player C (Defender) prevents B from scoring and if they win they go to counter goals.
Rotation: A > B > C > D > A
Progression:
2v1 - Player A now becomes part of the play and joins the attack
Coaching Points: Striker Mobility off the ball and good hold up play, good support and combination play from midfielder.
