Type of practice: Technical
Description/organisation:
3 positions are marked out on the edge of the 18 yard box, this session will be done at both ends of the pitch using both 18 yard boxes. 6 players will be at each session - 2 at each position marked with tall orange cones.
Part 1) Player 1 begins by taking a touch out then striking at goal, they then move into space around the nearest corner of the 6 yard box ready to receive the ball.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Part 2) Player 2 passes the ball to player 1, calling for a 1-2 to receive the ball again just inside the box to strikefirst time at goal. Player 2 then moves towards the 6 yard box.

Part 3) Player 3 takes a touch out at their feet to put a cross into the box toward player 2
Progressions/Regressions:
When confident with which coaching points have been made apparent by the players, the session can be stopped to move into the technical drill.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Type of practice: Skill
Description/organisation:
The drill remains the same as the technical, however, the goalkeepers will get involved and the extra/waiting players will act as defenders.
Player 1's defender will start on the goal post, as soon as i blow the whistle to begin, they defender must work hard to try to close player 1 down before they get a shot off at goal.
Player 2's defender must apply pressure but not tackle, the must be touch-tight to player 2 at all times.
Player 3's defender must run into the box to defend against player 2 when player 3 takes their touch out at their feet.
Progressions/regressions:
The drill can be regressed by removing either the goalkeeper or defenders.
To progress the session, the group could be limited to shooting with their weaker foot only or targets could be put inside the goal to increase accuracy.

Type of practice: Small Sided Game
Description/organisation:
Revert back to how the session started; free-play small sided game with throw-ins this time to increase realism.
Think or look back to obversatins made at the start of the session. Can you see a difference? Are less mistakes being made? Are players following through with the rehiterated mechanics?
Implement the coaching process where there is a breakdown of mechanics.
Progressions/Regressions:
If the drill lacks shots at goal, add a halfway line with disc-markers; 2 player from each team must alway remain in the opposing half.

SSG (10 mins)
Player information: Open Age, 12 players + 2 goalkeepers (doing seperate goalkeeping drills until later SSG)
Session topic: Shooting
Learning objectives: To improve shooting techniques, aiming for a higher percentage of shots on-target.
Order of practices: SSG, Technical, Skill, SSG.
Equipment: As many balls as possible around the edge of the pitch, one ball on the pitch, 2 goals.
Type of practice: Small Sided Game
Description/organisation:
Allow the players to play - see what needs coaching or what regressions/progressions are necessary. Only one condition of no throw-ins, the ball must be passed back into play - hoping to keep tempo of the game up and number of shots at goal.
Look for what the majority of players are failing to do when shooting or what they lack in their mechanics, this enables me to emphasise these coaching points in the technical and skill practices to ensure players understand how they can improve.
Still encourage the correct decision making; if shooting from own half - praise this but rehiterate that this wouldnt be realistic so to pass where possible.
Progressions/Regressions:
When confident with which coaching points have been made apparent by the players, the session can be stopped to move into the technical drill.
