Objective: to help activate players cognitively and improve passing and receiving.
Organization: 10x10 grid
Instructions: play 4v2 keep away in the 10x10 grid.
Variations: turn the rondos into a competition. For example if you have two grids of rondos each grid is a team. They send over a defender. Play for 1 minute. Keep score. Team with most consecutive passes in 1 minute wins. Then rotate defenders. You can also have an automatic win number. For example team with most consecutive passes in 1 minute OR if any team get 15 in a row they automatically win.
Key Coaching Points: 1. Be alert, scanning constantly, as you are always in play. (perception) 2. Keep your hips open to the center to be able to play any option. (receiving) 3. Use both feet staying balanced on the balls of your feet. (ball control) 4. Make subtle changes in your positioning to keep passing lanes open. (positioning) 5. Pass with intent to the far leg of your teammate. (passing) 6. Receive across your body. 7. Be courageous and look for the split pass when available. (ambition)
