Technical warm up (20 mins)

Organization:

  • Set a medium size ladder and two markers each of the bottom side
  • Split the goalies in two groups, then they rotate

Instructions:

  • Gk 1 will work on the ladder (double step low skip, jumping jacks, double feet jumps, one foot jumps, whatever coordination/balance) then he gets set;
  • Gk 2 will serve a volley ball for a shape catch;
  • After returning the ball to gk 2, gk 1 will drop backward keeping a low set up till the marker where he will set;
  • Coach C will serve a ball for a frontal smother.

  • Setting after movement
  • Handling
  • Position recovering
  • Diving technique

Progressions:

  • Vary the footwork on the ladder
  • Vary the service of the ball (frontal smother, low, bounce, air balls)

Diving technique with rope (20 mins)

Organization:

  • Set two poles 5 meters apart with a rope 50 cm height;
  • Set two markers on the ground, one in line with the bottom pole, the other one in line with the top one
  • Goalies will rotate, 5/6 reps each 

Instructions:

  • Gk will set with the bottom marker between their feet;
  • They will jump over the rope and moving forward to the other marker, getting set quickly;
  • They will then dive under the rope catching a low ball served by the coach;
  • After returning the ball they will drop to the starting marker
  • Get set and dive over the rope catching an air ball serve by the coach

  • Setting after movement
  • Low/air dive technique

Progressions:

  • Reverse di order with a low dive at the back and an air dive in front. Focusing more on the ball attack

Explosiveness (20 mins)

Organization:

  • Gk 1 starts in kneeling position with the outside foot out and the inside knee on the ground (right foot out, left knee on the ground if diving on the left);
  • Coach C will set few ball on the pk line;

  • Instructions:
  • Coach C will kick the balls and the gk1 has to step and make the parry out save;
  • If diving on the left, gk1 has to push with the right foot to stand, then with the left for diving;
  • Parrying out only, we work on this technique
  • Gk2 will stand near the post to collect the ball then he will serve to gk 3

Coaching Points:

  • Low and close setting up
  • Proper push for diving technique
  • Correct parrying technique, one (bottom) hand for low balls, two hands for bounce and air balls
  • Explosiveness

Progressions:

  • Low, bounce, air balls
