Warm-up game/Rondo (15 mins)

1st Phase, Dynamic Warm-up and rondo.

Objective: To welcome the players and create routine. Encourage the players to take initiative for the activity.

Organization: Set up your team dynamic warm up (the one used in games). For the rondo, play 4v0, with a player sitting out. If a player on the inside makes a mistake, sub that player out. In the 5v1, switch the middle player every time there's a mistake.

Key words: Open your hips, take your touch away from pressure and use both feet. Keep your feet moving.

Guided questions: 1.Where do I take my next touch? 2.Why do we get wide? 3. Why do we let the ball go across our body?

Answers: 1.Into space or away from pressure. 2. In order to support the player on the ball and spread the defense. 3. As the ball goes across our body and we use our back-foot, we can take a much better touch into space or away from pressure.

2nd Phase, ball mastery/technical work

Objective: Work on receiving with the back-foot

Organization: Everyone does the same exercise at the same time. As shown, set up 2 grids of 6 to 7 players each. To start, A passes to B. B drives a long pass across to C. C commits B (passive defender) and plays the pass to D who is overlapping. Rotation: A - B - C - D. To progress, B is a live defender on C's first touch. Play 2v1 (C/D v B), attacking players try to score on the 2 goals. Defending player(s) if they steal the ball can score by dribbling to the opposite end-line.
