Organization:
Players are split into four teams of four (adjust number of teams as needed). Each team should be in a different colored bib if possible. Each player on each team has a number 1 through 4 and must remember their number. Four cone 10x10 boxes. Each team has a ball in their box. Total field space is 30x25. Extra balls in the center of the grids with coach.
* Adjust space as needed. If the kids are having trouble keeping the ball, increase the grid space size to 15x15. For more advanced players, reduce grid to 8x8.
Instructions:
Players begin by playing passes in their own grid among their team. Coach can set restriction, such as touch limit, to increase or decrease the difficulty for players. Coach shouts out a number 1 through 4. The player with that number pressures the grid clock- wise from him and tries to knock that teams ball out of the area. The team that keeps the ball the longest gets a point. Play first team to 5 points wins.
Coaching Points:
* Body shape of the players to be able to recieve ball and move it quickly
* Movement to support player while the ball is moving to player
* At least two passing options at all times to keep the ball
* Disguise of pass (outside of the foot, fake pass, back-heel, etc)
Secondary Coaching Points
* Angling defensive run to cut off passing options
* Using the edges of the grid as another defender
Progressions:
P1: Add a pugg net at each grid (4 total for FIG 2) If the defender can win the ball and score in the Pugg net, they can earn a addiontal point for their team.
R1: Increase size of the grids to 15x15
