3v3, 4v4 depending on numbers. Let players play with no coaching intervention. Only step in if players need direction, cant problem solve on their own, or to give ideas.

Warm Up: Coerver Moves/Passing (10 Min) (10 mins)

Technical: Warm Up - Coerver Moves & Passing

Set up 4, 8x8 Skill squares set out as above. Each square has its own skill which the boys perform while in that area. After 2 minutes the boys will be asked to rotate clockwise into the new skill square to work on the new skill. Repeat as needed.

1- Toe taps ( Forwards, backwards) - Drag back turn

2 - Touch, Touch Roll- Cryuff

3 - Inside/Outside ( from one foot to the other ) - L Turn

4 - Freedom - Be creative

Passing & Receiving

Black Jack-

Set up enough four cone grids to have three players per grid. The first player starts by passing the ball to a player at another cone. The player who passes the ball runs to the open cone and prepares to receive another pass. See who can successfully make 24 passes first.

Coaching Points:

Stress proper short passing- using the inside of the foot, ankle locked-toes up, plant foot placement toward target.

Stress proper receiving- using inside of the foot, ankle locked-toes up, cusioning fast passes and pushing slow passes.

Monkey in Middle

Switch up the players so they are with new players for drill. Need 5 per group. Use the squares from previous drill.

1 person at each cone. 1 person in the middle. Pass to someone and run somewhere else. Person in middle takes the person's spot and that person goes in middle. Whoever gets ran to, goes to middle.

Small Sided Game (15 Min) (15 mins)

Small Sided Game: Focus Passing and Receiving

Set up a grids approximately 15 X 15 yards with five players per grid. Set one player at each of the corner cones.

Instructions:

Player A passes a long ball to player B, who lays the ball off to player A. After making the pass, player B will spin out around his cone and receive a ball from player A on the other side of the cone. Player B then plays the ball long to player C and the drill repeats.

Variations:

Run the drill with 2 balls. Start the drill with player A and C at the same time

Change the direction of the play.

Coaching Points:

Players should attempt 1 touch with the proper pace and accuracy on each pass.

Players should be thinking ahead of the play and be ready to move fast.

Players should communicate verbally, by hand motions, or eye contact.

Scrimmage (20 Min) (20 mins)

Scrimmage: 6v6 and a 4v4 game. Subbing players between both teams as necessary. Make freezes when necessary and make coaching points on ball mastery technique, positioning and spacing. Encouragement of trial and error. Practice crossing and finishing.
