Set Up:
20x30 grid with goals at each end and Goal Keepers.
1 defender in the middle area
Players with a ball each start in the corner of the field and are numbered 1 or 2 (opposite corners diagonally)
On the coaches call ("1 or 2") the player at the front of the line from that corner attempts to score a goal.
Players must recognize which technique to use. Dribble if confronted by defender or run with the ball if they have the open space. Once past the defender they can attempt to score.
Players rotate to opposite corner.
Rotate defender after a few minutes.
After a few rotations, defender holds bib and takes attackers place if he wins the ball.
Coaching points:
Use close control, moves/skills to beat opponent if pressured
Run with the ball and go to goal as quickly as possible if theres no pressure - use bigger touches, get the ball out of feet, bigger strides whilst under control.
