Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): DEFENSIVE DRILL IN CONFINED AREA

Screen 1 (15 mins)

Method:

• Area 15m x 7m.  Two small goals or nets or cones at each end.
• Defenders (Red) at one end.  Midfielders/Strikers (Blue) at the other
• Blue starts with the ball and must attempt to dribble past the red player.
• Can either shoot or dribble through the goals at the Red end after cross the half way line.
• Red must try to regain possession and if successful, can shoot or dribble through goals at the Blue end.
• Rotate with next player after each round.  30 seconds max to score by blue or red staying within the zone.

Coaching Points:

• Relatively small space so good control required by the Blue player.  
• Red defender should be side on and balanced, showing the blue to the outside.
• DEfender Red should not over commit on either side and be spun by the Blue player.
