Cops & Robbers (Physical Literacy)

Practice Organisation

20x20 yard square

1 player with ball (Cop)

All other players w/o ball (Robbers)

All other balls together on the side

Cop dribbles around the square and tries to kick the ball and hit the Robbers (below the knee)

Robbers move around the square avoiding getting hit by the Cop

If a Robber gets hit by a Cop they get a ball and join the Cop team

Last Robber is the winner

Split group into three teams. One team are cops, the other two teams are robbers. The cops have 'x' amount of minutes to see how many times they can catch the robbers. Robbers do not become cops if caught. They continue as robbers until the allotted time has elapse

Key Coaching Points

Speed (Robbers)

Agility (Robbers)

Awareness (Robbers)

Ball Manipulation (Cop)

Accuracy of Pass/Shot (Cop)

Can we use our Speed to get away?

Can we change direction quickly?

Can we see what’s going on around us? Check our shoulder (Awareness)

Can we jump/spring/bound over any shots from the Cop?
