Warm Up- Freeze Tag (TOTS U5) (15 mins)

Organization:

15 x 15 yds

Instructions:

Coach has a pinnie in hand and tries to tag a player with the pinnie. Once tagged, player is frozen, must hold their hands up, and yell "Help, I'm frozen!" Another teammate has to unfreeze that player by giving him a high five. Can the coach freeze ALL the players??

Coaching Points:

Heads up. Don't bump into each other.

Look for space and run into that space.

Cut left/right to change direction quickly.

Progressions:

Give a pinnie to 2-3 players and make them the taggers. Coach plays as a field player.

Candy Mountain (TOTS U5) (15 mins)

Organization:

1.20 x 20 yard area set up as shown

2.1 ball per player

Learning Outcomes:

- Coordination

- Movement Patterns and Sequences

- Spatial Awareness

- Listening Skills

Story/Description:

1.All players are on Candy Mountain (area)

2.The coach asks different players what their favorite candy bar is. Once this is known, each side of candy mountain is given a candy bar name

3.When the coach yells out a particular candy bar, all the players must race to that side of the mountain

Coaching Points:

1.Try to remember which side of the mountain is which

2.Keep your candy bag (ball) close to you so you can get the candy bars

Developments:

1.P – Once all the players understand the movements they then have to take their candy bag (ball) with them

2. P- Once they get to a side, have them perform a basic skill (toe-taps, foundations, jumping jacks, etc..)

Trip the Coach (TOTS U5) (15 mins)

Organization:

15 x 15 yd (adjust accordingly)

Every player and the coach has a ball.

Instructions:

Every player dribbles around the field and tries to hit the coach or his ball with their ball. They must try to trip the coach and have him fall.

Coaching Points:

Heads up don't run into each other;

See where the coach is and dribble towards him

Keep close control of the ball.
