A session offering the opportunity for the players to work with a team mate in a 2v1 overload - allowing for situations to comine with a team mate, practice passing and receiving skills, and creating and moving into different spaces.

Organization
-12 Players
-area approx. 18x12 yards (x3)
-see diagram for equipment and set-up (x3)
Activity
-starts with attackers with the ball & play 2v2, but defending team must drop one player
back to act as GK, creating 2v1.
-If defenders gain possession, they become attackers and opponents have to drop 1
player back to goal, reversing the 2v1 situation
Possible Progression
-no condition that defender has to drop back (more time in 2v2 situations)
Coaching Points
-when is a good time to dribble/pass/shoot?
-how can you take advantage of the extra player when attacking?
-how can communication help us when we attack?
-why is our movement without the ball important?

Organisation
-12 Players
-area approx. 20x15 yards (x3)
-see diagram for equipment and set-up
Activity
Play starts with ball fed-in from one end by an attacker who drops behind the safety line. The objective of practice is for each group of attackers to transfer 5 balls across channel in a 2v1 situation and get it to their target player under control. The defender starts on a half-way retreat line. If Defender wins ball they can dribble/shoot it into their target net and it does not count as part of the total number of successful transfers. Rotate roles each round.
Possible Progression
-take out retreat line (is the space infront or behind the defender now depending where they move?)
Coaching Points
-can you create space & opportunity to receive both individually & for team mate
-why is communication with your team mate so important?
-when is a good time to dribble or pass? How can the defender's movement help you with that decision?

Organization
-12 Players
-area approx. 18x25 (x2)
-see diagram for equipment and set-up
Activity
-3v3 small-sided game to 2 goals. The idea is to try and get the players to find the space on the wings and even try to create overload situations.
Possible Progression
-bring players in and ask if they see anything they would change with the game - size of field, goal positions, etc
Coaching Points
-can we create situations where we out-number the other team?
-What areas of the field can we find most space?
-Is it even more important to communicate with your teammates now?
