Pressure Cover Drill
Player A passes ball to Player C.
Player A represents 1st Defender, Player B represents 2nd Defender and Player C is the 1st attacker
Upon first touch of the ball by Player C, Player B falls quickly to a cover position while player A closes space and applies pressure to the ball
Player C dribbles to goal to score
Coaching points
Player A - immediate pressure to the ball
proper defensive position between attacking player and goal
Delay until cover is set
Ability to fall into cover if beat by attacker. (Player B would have stepped into 1st defender role in this case)
Rotation
Player B - Sprint to cover position
Clear communication with Player A when in cover
Ability to rotate immediately to first defender if Player A is beat
