Station 1: Warm-up (20 minutes)
- Attacking Patterns
- 30x35 yards in width & length
- Players will work in groups of 3 to start
- In groups of 3 - players pass moving down the field with every player touching the ball at least three
(3) times. While this is happening it is important that they are collectively moving forward and together. Once they reach the end they shoot and finish on the small goal & then pick up their ball and sprint back to the start.
- Once the first group reaches the midpoint the next group of 3 players can go.
Progression:1) Same as above but now players perform the weave which means they overlapp and run around player after they pass
Coaching Points:
- On your toes (happy feet)
- Body shape (open and facing forward)
- Communication (verbal/non verbal)
- Pace/Accuracy of pass
- Guided first touch (forward)
- Overlapp with speed
- Players using width of the field (wide & forward)
- First touch encouraged to attack thru the middle and central player overlaps
** Ask players is triangle better wider or shorter? Wider because player on the ball will have 2 options
** Ask the players how many touches should they take on the ball?
** Ask where they should play the pass?
** What will happen if you stop the ball?
