Individual Tactic (1v1).

Organization:

Set up as shown.

Instructions:

Players are divided into two teams to play a continuous 1v1 game. Attacker takes on the defender by driving at the defender, attacker can score by finishing in the mini goal or dribbling through the the cone goals. As attacker drives towards the scoring zone to score in either goal, the defender will try to win the ball to score in the opposite box as shown either by passing the ball into the box or by dribbling into the box. Once a goal is scored or the ball goes out of play, the attacker then becomes the next defender while the defender immediately rejoins his team at the starting position. A new attacker from the opposition team quickly restart play to continue the game by starting a new attack. The game is continuous until coach's call

Notes:

Attacker must get inside the scoring zone before scoring.

Coaching Points:

- Accelerate away after getting past defender.

- Be confident to take on defender by using tricks and feints.

- Exploit space.

- Quick finishing.

- Quick transitioning from attacking to defending.

- Change of pace / direction to beat defender.

Progression:

1. A point system is introduced by awarding 2 points for scoring diagonally, 1 point if a player scores straight and 3 points for winning the ball back and scoring in the box.

Small Group Tactic

Organization:

Set up as shown.

Instructions:

Both teams start at the same time with a pass being made to a team mate as shown. On receiver's first touch, the receiver has two choices of either driving past the red line and look to finish diagonally in opposition mini goal or the receiver could also look to drive at speed and dribble through the cone goals to score a point, both passers immediately transition to defending once the pass has been made and look to sprint to shut down opposition player. If the defender wins the ball, they can score in the mini goal or dribble through the cone goal. If an attacker scores, or if a defender win the ball and scores, or if one ball goes out of play, the other two players must react quickly to support their team mate to play a 2v2. Once both balls are dead, the coach serve in a third ball to either team to finish off with a 2v2 game.

Coaching Points:

- 1v1 attacking and defending skills.

- Positive first touch into space to break the red line.

- Confidence to take people on.

- Quick combination play to finish on goal.

- Quick transitions i.e. attacking and defending.

- Recognizing when to run through attacker vs when to stay side-on to delay attack.
