Intro (10 mins)

Organization:

  • split teams in 2 and one neutral
  • 4 balls

Instructions:

  • Start off with just needing to pass the ball to a player who didn't pass you the ball. 

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • 2 touch
  • look before you receive look before you pass
  • movement off the ball
  • pass to player who didn't pass the ball
  • simple-simple-simple-break the lines

Regressions/Progressions:

  • possession
  • 5 passes is a goal 
  • after 3 passes need to pass ball to a player in the opposite outside zone (only 1 player from the team in possession can enter the zone). Potentially progress to only goal if the target player then passes back to a player on their team.

Main Activity (30 mins)

Organization:

  • 7v7+1v1
  • balls near the halfway line

Instructions:

  • Ball starts from white cdm-attack vs defense.
  • If less players eliminate blue cdm, gk, white cb, white cdm.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • defenders:
  • check shoulder
  • distance and goalside of player without ball
  • pcb 
  • depth in cover
  • man and a half
  • offside line
  • transition
  • Attackers:
  • Same as previous activity
  • tracking back and securing space in front of back line

James-coming out quickly, communication with defenders

Regressions/Progressions:

  • When defenders win it they need to play the ball to their #9 who needs to pass it to a teammate and then it's live. They score by dribbline past the halfway line.
