Technical w/passive defender. Twist off/U turn combination in groups of 3 or 4
When looking to retain the ball individually, quite often we need to execute combinations to be successful. This combines 2 ball retention turns workng on both feet. Cribble at 1st cone in front, perform a twist off, dribble at next cone and perform a U turn then pass back to line. Coaches provide passive resistance at cones for turns. Go both directions to work both feet. Race.
Coaching points :
- twist off is 1.5/2 touches to execute. No more
- fewer touches, quicker movements
- body shape to protect ball at turning points (arms out/butt out/low stance)
- ball shoud be close enough to protect/play after each turn

Skill portion. Divide players into 2 or 3 equal teams (depending on numbers), attacking team with a ball for each player to start. Defenders are trying to force all of the balls off the grid. Play for a set amount of time for players on the ball to try to keep their last ball in the grid as long as possible. Team that keeps ball alive the longest gets the point. Switch defenders each round.

Warm up (15 mins)
Ball manipulation warm up in tight space - 15 mins
- inside/ouside with both feet (touch the ball & change the angle on ball with every step)
- moving toe taps (cover every corner of grid and travel in all directions)
- moving shuffles (knees bent/ball close/eyes up) : change direction by tapping behind plant foot
- tap/tap/roll (quick feet/eyes up)
-roll/control (skipping rhythm/eyes up)
For each manipulation, assign a particular turn to be executed on coach's command (inside/outside cut, step over, stop turn, U turn, etc). On coach's command each player has to execute turn outside of each grid boundary (4 in total). Eyes up and change of pace after each one.
