Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Passing and Moving

Technical (10 mins)

Passing and Moving -

Use 1 half of the pitch or a 30x20 square

6-10 players (split into 2 sets of colours)

Players move around finding space on the pitch

Blues pass between themselves as do Reds

Key Points -

For player with the ball - identify target, strike the cenre of the ball with inside or outside of foot maintaining a firm ankle

Receiver - verbal and non-verbal communication. Call for the ball, point, eye contact. Get in line with the ball and relax on impact

Game (25 mins)

Game -

40x30 (or 3G pitch)

2 teams - uneven numbers

Split pitch into 3 with cones or disc markers

Normal game situation but one team has 1 (or more players than the other team). How can they take advantage of this? More space for attackers to move into. Make sure both teams have advantage of exrea players in turn.

Conditions (if required) -

Move back to equal numbers

When a player makes a pass into a different third they must move and follow the ball

Return to even numbers on teams

Key Points -

As before with technical and skill. Encourage plenty of movement and look for creation of 2v 1 situations to exploit
