Description
What:
- To identify cues on when to force the opponent in 1v1 situations to the sidelines, and regain possession of the ball
Where:
- Attacking 1/3 Wide
Who:
- #9, #7, #11, #10 VS #2, #4, #5, #3
When:
- Opponents #4 and/or #5 receive the ball in a goal kick from the GK building out of the back in their Defensive 1/3.
Why:
- Players #9, #7, #11, and #10 improve technical defensive skills on how to pressure opponents by building out of the back in 1v1 situations.

Organization:
- Two grids of 10x10. Three gates on each grid 2/3 feet apart
Instructions:
- Red Players will begin to dribble and attempt to dribble past one of the gates. The blue players will attempt to disrupt the red player from dribbling past the gate. Players will switch roles after 7 minutes and a 2-minute break
Coaching Points/Questions:
- Reading cues of the attacker when to win the ball
- Body shape - low (knees bent and on toes) and side on

Organization:
- Two Grids 8x10. Two players on each side.
Instructions:
- Blue players will begin passing the ball to the red players. Once the red players receive the ball, the blue player will pressure right away and attempt to regain possession of the ball and dribble past the blue gate. The red player is attempting to beat the opponent and dribble past the blue gate on the opposite side of the grid. Players will switch sides after 7 min and a 2-minute break.
Coaching Points/Questions:
- End product once the ball is won, can you counter attacker quickly?
- Get to the ball quickly
- Body Position - slightly side on to the ball (force attacker where you want them to go)
- Body shape - low (knees bent and on toes) and side on
- Reading cues of the attacker when to win the ball
- The angle of approach - deny penetration as you pressure and force them where you want them to go
- Defenders have 5 seconds to regain the procession of the ball and counter-attack the opponent.
Progressions:
- Attacking players will begin with the ball and attack the opponent right away.
