Opposed Warm up (15 mins)

Description:

10 yard gate with 2 attackers, 1 goal set back 20 yards and the defender starts in between. 1st attacker passes to 2nd attacker who must take a touch, defender presses to force outside. 2nd attacker must then pass back and they play 2v1 to goal, must play a give and go around defender.

Progress:

attackers can play 1 touch

attacker can dribble on first touch

15 minutes - 4 x 2 minutes (1 minute rest)

Coaching Points:

body shape - side on stance with change of speed/direction

protect the inside channel

keep ball carrier and opposition in front

when to pressure or delay

Rondo (15 mins)

Description:

10 x 20 area divided into 2 squares. 3v2+2 targets. ball starts in one half and the attacking team must pass or dribble into the other half, score by playing bumper to bumper. all players must be in the same half as the ball.

12 minutes - 5 x 90 seconds (1 minute rest)

Coaching Points:

reference point of wide players - keep opposition in front

body shape - side on stance with change of speed/direction

protect the inside channel and stop splits

when to pressure or delay - slow pass/mistake/numbes up

have control - pressure/cover/balance

rondo (15 mins)

25 x 25 area divided into 4 squares, 3v3+2. team score by going target to target. Must set up in 1-2 formation when out of possession, cannot leave half until ball is passed. only 2 attacking plaers in vertical channel. team must be in attacking half before scoring, bous point for pass or dribble over the half.

15 minutes - 4x2.5 minutes (1 minute rest)

coaching points:

closest player pressures and sets trap - into areas or numbers up

supporting players provide balance and prevent penetrating passes

use sideline as a defender

press at correct moements - numbers up/backwards pass/mistake

Opposed practice (20 mins)

30 x 35 area with 2 goals on the sideline. play 5v5+2. one team score by playing target to target, opposite team score by playing into the mini goals. bonus point for scoring in less then 2 passes.

 

20 minutes - 4x4 minutes (1 minute rest)

Small Sided Game (25 mins)

play 9v9 in 55x70 area. focus team set up 1-3-2-3 and oppostiion team play 1-2-4-2. bonus point for winning possession in wide area or central third. atacking team get a point for receiving and facing forward in the central third.

 

25 minutes - 3x6 minutes (2 minute rest)
