Rondo 4v2 (10 mins)

Objective: to help activate players cognitively and improve passing and receiving.

Organization: 10x10 grid

Instructions: play 4v2 keep away in the 10x10 grid.

Variations: turn the rondos into a competition. For example if you have two grids of rondos each grid is a team. They send over a defender. Play for 1 minute. Keep score. Team with most consecutive passes in 1 minute wins. Then rotate defenders. You can also have an automatic win number. For example team with most consecutive passes in 1 minute OR if any team get 15 in a row they automatically win.

Key Coaching Points: 1.  Be alert, scanning constantly, as you are always in play. (perception)  2. Keep your hips open to the center to be able to play any option. (receiving) 3. Use both feet staying balanced on the balls of your feet. (ball control) 4. Make subtle changes in your positioning to keep passing lanes open. (positioning) 5. Pass with intent to the far leg of your teammate. (passing) 6. Receive across your body. 7. Be courageous and look for the split pass when available. (ambition)

Brazilian Warmup (10 mins)

Objective: warm-up the players mentally and physically.

Organization: Cones are placed 7 yards apart for a total of 14 yards.

Movement: jogging x 2 -- back, back, clap clap -- twist twist, clap clap -- arms up right/left clap clap -- quad tap right -- quad tap left -- quad tap right and left clap clap -- outside foot right tap -- outside foot left tap -- outside foot right, left, clap clap -- open the gate right clap, open gate left clap -- close the gate right clap, close the gate left clap. Sprint it up.

Dynamic stretch: Calves sweep, Knee to chest, quad stretch, figure 4, lateral lunge, forward lunge arms in the air, spiderwoman elbow to instep.

PP 4v4+3 (10 mins)

Objective: to help develop tactical understanding.

Organization: 16x16 grid (adjust size depending on ability) with 11 players. The grid is divided into quadrants by putting flat discs or cones in the middle.

Instructions: play 4v4 + 3 keep away

Key Coaching Points: 1. Angles; 2. Distance; 3. Timing; 4. Lines; 5. Situations; 6. Work with the 4 to create proper perimeter shape. Can we get players in the internal diagonal quadrants?

Warm-Up (5 mins)

Objective: to activate our players mentally and physically for the match.

Organization: set-up for 2v2 to one goal with a goalkeeper.

Instructions: Defending play passes the ball out to one of the attackers to start the 2v2 game. The defenders try to win the ball. The attackers try to score.

Variations:

4. Role of 2nd defender.
