1v1 (15 mins)

Set Up

Mark out 3 zones beginning in-line with penalty spot and approximately 18 yards in length.

Individual zones to be wider the further out they are from goal to create a funneling effect.

Have plenty of balls at the beginning of each zone to allow continuous play and thus high intensity.

Rules and Conditions

Players play 1v1.

Attacking player to try and dribble past defender to try and score. Can ONLY shoot once they have broken the last two cones and are in shaded area.

As soon as the attacker shoots or the play is dead, the next player in line starts to attack. Previous attacker becomes defender.

Coaching Points

- Slow down before you arrive

- Side face

- Surf position

Protect the space by filling it quickly

Force one way

Tackle with the front foot where possible.

- To allow quick recovery into good defensive posture.

- To set up quick attacking transition by poking ball behind attacker.

- To allow for better balance (tackling with back foot brings feet closer together and narrows stance, thus minimizes stable posture).
