Defensive Shifting

4 v 4 + 4

3 teams.

Red lines split field into 3 sections, place one team in each section.

Players in white uniforms are in middle grid and they represent defensive team to start. They must remain in middle section until they win the ball.

Focus : Pressure, Cover and Balance from the defensive team. Proper pressure on the ball and accurate shifts from defensive cover to protect split passes and the middle of the field.

Attacking teams with possession try to move the ball from side to side within their grid until a forward passing option becomes available. Objective is to transfer ball from Navy team to Black team without white intercepting.

If white wins ball, they take place of whichever team lost possession.

*Blue lines represent splitting the field vertically into 4 grids to help reinforce proper shifting.

Progressions:

- Defensive team can send one player into box to try to steal ball

- Attacking teams can set up in flat back 4 shape or diamond shape

- Attacking teams must step into middle third by dirbbling before transfering the ball to other channel.
