When both fullbacks attack, the number 6 must create a defensive three.
-When playing out of defense, the number 6 must go to create a diamond with the goalkeeper and two center backs.
-In the attack, the number 6 must stay behind the other midfielders and always be in position ti receive a pass and change the point of attack.

The number 8 and 10 must go beyond their defense marks to receive.
-When the team are building the attack from the defenders, the number 8 & 10 should go beyond their marks and in between lines of the oppositions midfield and defense.
-This movement forces the. markers into a decision of going to pressure the ball or styaing with the 8 & 10 (which opens up more lanes with movement).

The full back, wide player and attacking midfielder rotate positions to receive.
-Example 1: As the center back steps out of defense. The number 3 goes high and the number 11 goes inside. Finally, the number 8 pulls into a deep wide position to receive. (Movements to open up options).
-Example 2: As the center back steps out of the defense. The number 2 goes high and wide and the number 10 also spins and goes high into the front line to "pin" the defenders. Now the number 7 is free to come deep to receive.

If the ball is on the opposite side, the wide players come off the line.
-When the ball is about to be switched, the opposite wide player can now move inside and on the blindside of the opponents midfield. The fullbacks on that side can now join the attack on the outside of the wide player.

It is important that the midfield is made up of three different types of players.
-The three midfielders must be different types of player and bring different skills to the game. This will aid to variety of the teams play and enable natural rotation in movement. (can you work off of each others movements).
#6 The Passer- the teams playmaker who gets onto the ball to make intelligent passes.
#8 The Energizer- this type of midfield has lots of energy and uses the to good effect by moving off the ball both in attack and defense.
#10 The Magician- the player that can unlock the defense with a dribble or movement of individual brilliance to score or assist goals.

When making a pass, the passing player must make a forward run off the ball.
-Pass and run off the ball in order to drag players away from the player in the posssession or to receive a return pass into space.

When defending, the team must become compact and narrow and force outside
-Quickly get narrow and compact to create a 10v4 against the opponents central players

Now the ball is outside, the team must shift across to apply high pressure.
-The team now squeeze across to keep play on this side and outnumber the opponents to regain possession of the ball.

The number 6 is now used to the screen the center backs.
-The number 6 blocks passes into the forwards feet and this protects the two center backs. It's important the number 6 shows good awareness and understands their defensive responsibilities.

The number 6 must recognize that outside backs have joined the attack. The number 6 must now sit deep to create a back three.
