Breaking Lines
Skill Practice - Passing & Switching play
- Area size will be 24 x 12
- Pitch will be split into 3 sections with cones to help players make sure they are switching to the other side of the pitch.
- Players are split into 3 teams of 4 who will be bibed up on arrival. (6 players in Green & 6 players in Orange) - (4 players will put pink bibs on over the top of the first bib for later on in the session.
- I will pick a team captain for each team to keep score.
- Players on the outside have to complete 3 passes to each other before switching to the opposite team, 1 point if successfully making 3 passes and breaking the line through the opposition.
- Players in the middle must try and defend the ball with only one pressing the outside team at one time, if they successfully regain possession, they swap with the team on the outside.
Targets
- Complete 3 passes before switching the ball to the opposite team for 1 point
- If players successfully keep the ball for 8 seconds they get 3 points
- Try different variations of passes, along the floor, in the air, ping pass, can we use our less dominant foot.
- Players have to complete 3 passes before breaking the line.
Progression - If teams on the outside are having too much success i will an additional defender in to press the ball.
Possible regression - if defending team are having too much success with two pressing players i will go back to having just one defender.

Breaking through final third
Skill Practice - Breaking through the final third
Area size - Half pitch with two mini goals.
Players - 12 players, 6 Red, 6 Blue, 2 GK.
Pitch will be split into three sections. Players aim is to keep possession of the ball before trying to break through the final third of the pitch. If the attacking team breaks through they are allowed an unopposed shot on target.
Condition - Players must play a through ball to one of their team mates to run onto into the final third.
Target - Can we play through, around or over for 2 points.
Challenge - Can we shoot with our less dominant foot

On coaches whistle, players must perform a 1v1 and try and retain the ball for as long as possible.
Coach will blow whistle again in 30 seconds, when the person with the ball must hold the ball above their head like a trophy.
