WARM UP GAME: World Cup

 

Three teams of for players. One goal per team.

Each team defends their own goal, and tries to score in others.

Everytime the coach plays a ball in, it is a 1v1v1.

Once a team conceed 3 goals, they are out of the WC, but they still play.

Last team in, wins.

Organization:

 

25x20 yd area.

Two groups: attackers-vs-defenders.

Balls with the defenders.

 

 

Instructions:

 

Defender pass the ball to the attacker and after that starts pressure.

Attacker have to options:

- score in the minigoal: 1 point.

- dribble through the red gate: 2 points.

 

After 3 minutes we switch roles.

 

 

Coaching Points/Questions:

 

- Proper balance of the body (low) to follow as fast as possible the attacker decisions.

- Identify the weak points of the attacker.

- Leave space on the weak foot of the attacker.

- What is worth more to protect, the mini-goal or the gate? Decision making.

- If the attacker makes a long touch, high pressure.

Organization:

 

30x25 yd area.

Two groups: attackers-vs-defenders.

Balls with the defenders.

 

 

Instructions:

 

3v2.

 

1. Defender 1, passes the ball to any attacker, and then we start the 3v2 attack.

2. Each defender have a zone to defend.

3. If the attacker overcomes the defender, the other defender should cover expecting the first one to cover back.

4. Attackers have three scoring options:

- mini-goals: one point.

- driblle through red gate: three points.

 

 

Coaching Points/Questions:

 

- Proper balance of the body (low) to follow as fast as possible the attacker decisions.

- Identify the weak points of the attacker.

- Leave space on the weak foot of the attacker.

- What is worth more to protect, the mini-goal or the gate? Decision making.

Organization:

 

30x25yd area.

4v4 game (with a team waiting outside)

2 minutes games.

First to score stays. In case of tie, the last arrival stays.

 

 

Instructions:

 

We divide the area in two space.

- When in attacking area, all the players except one can go in.

- When in defending area, only two players in.

 

 

Coaching Points/Questions:

Same as before:

 

- Proper balance of the body (low) to follow as fast as possible the attacker decisions.

- Identify the weak points of the attacker.

- Leave space on the weak foot of the attacker.

- What is worth more to protect, the mini-goal or the gate? Decision making.

- If the attacker makes a long touch, high pressure.

- Balance with the teammate to protect as many range of space as possible.

- Be aware of the cover responsabilities.
