Juggling Warm Up

Organization: 15x15 Grid. Entire team with a ball each.

Instructions: Work on juggling patterns.

1. One Juggle One Bounce

2. Alternate Feet after every bounce

3. Laces, Thighs, Thighs, Laces

4. Putting the ball to sleep

Coaching Points:

Getting ready for the session.

Contact with the shoe laces

Ankles locked

Eyes on the ball at the point of contact

Main Theme (15 mins)

Organization:

20x30, 2x2 Square inside a 15x15 Grid.3 Players positioned in each side of the square as above.

Instructions:

Each player takes in turn to strike the ball through the square on the opposite side.

Focus on the technique. Accuracy over power.

Coaching Points:

Angle of approach – off center

Head up to observe the target

Head down at the point of contact

Non-kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

Ankle locked, toe down

Contact ball – will vary depending on target area

Contact foot – laces (instep)

Body weight forward, chest and knee over the ball at contact

Follow through landing on striking foot

Progression:

Coach plays a GK and player have to strike the ball through the square in order to get a point.

Jack in the Box (20 mins)

Organization: 8 players 4 white 4 blue, 2 pugg goals, 2 5x5 boxes, 8 balls

Instructions: Jack in the box

2 teams attempt to pass the ball into pugg net. Player 1 starts and passes the ball into the goal and then the next player can pass the ball into the net. Once all players on team have successfully passed the ball into the goal, the last player can run into box to try and pass the ball into the goal to win the game. Once all players on team free jack in box and he scores, game is over.

Coaching Points: Passing technique

Weight and accuracy of the pass

Inside of the foot

Ball contact, middle of the ball, middle of the foot

Plant foot next to the ball and pointed at target

Ankle locked

Progressions:

P-move passing distance back start 5 yards, move to 10 yards

Small Sided Game (40 mins)

Organization:

3v3 Small-sided tournament games: 4 teams of 3 players eachteam. 2 fields of 20x30 yards with 2 Pugg Goals on opposite endlines. Play small sided to larger goals if possible since the kids got striking repitiions during the session.

Instructions:

4 Teams of 3, play 3v3 tournament style format where each team will play one another. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 for a loss. Each game should be approximately 6-8 minutes in duration (obviously play a 3 game tournament).

Coaching Points:

· Review of session's learning outcomes being translated into the game

· 3 lines of attack

· Creating triangle (gives angles of support)

· Making triangle as big as possible (Creating space)
