Part 1 (15 mins)

Two Rondos side by side. The objective here is to keep possession away from the defender but when you make a pass you must switch rondos and go and support the play on the opposite rondo. This is to make players think about why and when to pass. Yes sometimes you might be being pressured in a game but that does not mean you always have to play the ball straight away. Be brave and protect the ball and wait for more support before releasing it. In here the defender will have one minute to win as many possessions back as possible. At the end see who won the most possessions back. The defender with the least will have to take part in the Fitness Forfeits at the end of the session. After a minute change the players in the middle.

Key Objectives:

Brave in possession. Do not be afraid of holding onto the ball. Suck the defender in and then release it. There is such a thing as playing too quick and inefficiently.

Movement off the ball. Once you have played your pass have the desire to get across to the other box and help your other teammate out. These sort of 5-10 yard sprints at pace could be the ones that make a difference in a game.

Recognition of where the space is. Good spatial occupation is key in games. Make sure this is noticed in small practices like this.

Desire to defend and win the ball back. Obviously in here you are on your own but if you can run your balls off for a minute here it is a good trait to take into games and the season when you will have another 10 players behind you showing exactly the same mentality. Force the mistakes with continuous running and clever running. Cut off the angles.

Part 2 (15 mins)

Pitch split into thirds with three teams. Each team starts in a third. The middle third team will go first. They will work there way to one goal. You have a maximum of 6 seconds in any third you are in at any time so you must have a lot of desire and work rate to get up and out of a zone and work the ball into a scoring position. If you score when you get into an end zone then you get the ball back off the keeper and go again up the other end and try and repeat the process. If you miss then you become the defending team at the end you failed to score, the defending team get the ball off the keeper and they go up the other end and try and score. The team with the lowest amount of goals will take part in the Fitness Forfeit at the end.

Key Objectives:

Desire to go and get up the pitch and score a goal.

Creative play against a structured defence.

Desire to defend against a team coming at pace

Part 3 (15 mins)

One team on the pitch, one team behind the goal. Team on the pitch work the ball around and follow their pass. Teams will work for 3 minutes. One point if you score. Lose a point if the Goalkeeper catches it or the opposition team behind the goal catch it. Losing team does the Fitness Forfeit at the end.

Key Objectives:

Play passes and run with intensity. Lower intensity means you are less likely to get as many opportunties therefore increasing your chances of defeat.

Strike the ball with purpose. Aim for corners and make it really difficult for the Keeper to catch it. One touch rebounds are in play if you want to take them. Be aware this may affect your time. Next person can't go until the ball is dead.

Open body position to move the ball on more efficiently.

Different types of shots.
