Exercise 1

1 server | 1 goal | 1-2 mannequins | cones | 2 GK's

GK shuffles through the cones and then sets on the angle for a volley from S1.

After the catch, GK tosses the ball back then adjusts in the goal for a service in the air from S1 again.

S1 will toss the ball in the air behind the mannequin for a cross for the GK to collect.

Coaching Points:

- starting position in the goal before S1 serves the toss in the air. Should the GK be set more to the back post, middle section, or near post?

- Stance (body position) of the GK prior to S1's toss. Should the GK be positioned sideways on or square to S1?

Variation:

Add a counter goal (mini goal) out wide for the GK to distribute (throw) to after the cross collection.

Exercise 2

2 servers | 1 goal | 2-4 mannequins | 2 GK's

S1 starts with ball.

S1 will toss/volley ball for the GK to collect in the air. S1 moves between the mannequins after he serves.

When GK catches the ball he will side volley the ball back to S1, looking to hit S1's hands.

GK has to adjust back over to get set for a shot from S1 with that ball. S1 will hit a half volley.

After the shot from S1, GK adjusts over to S2 who will have a 2nd shot on goal with a different ball.

Coaching Points:

- GK needs to wait and read the flight of the ball before committing to coming out for the ball. Does not need to run straight out automatically.

- Communication- early and loud

- Timing of jump. GK needs to try and catch at their highest level. Should the GK jump with one or both feet?

Exercise 3

3 servers | 1 goal | 2-4 mannequins | 2 GK's

S1 will volley a ball in the air for the GK to catch as a cross.

Once GK has collected the ball he will distribute that ball out to S3 (Side volley or striking from the ground).

After the kick, S2 will have a shot on goal, then enter into the box.

S3 will take the ball that was played to him by the GK and cross it in for the GK to collect. S2 will add pressure on the cross. S1 can also add pressure.

Coaching Points:

- GK needs to be aware of position in goal for each servers rep.

- GK needs to wait and read the flight of the ball before committing to coming out for the ball. Does not need to run straight out automatically.

- Communication- early and loud
