Objective: Eyes up passing. Decision making. Understand how space helps make good decisions (space = time = quality). Passing technique. Off the ball movement.
Organization: 30x30 for 10 players (Best guess). Start with everyone in the play area (no teams). Half the players should have a ball. If a ball goes out, whoever touched it last must go get it, play resumes when they reenter play area. Burpees are given to those who break the rules.
Game 1 GnG: Players with ball are always moving. Player with ball scans for an open receiver and passes to feet, does GnG. Receiver must pass back to the same person in space in 1 touch. After 3 minutes, ask the players with the ball to switch with those without a ball.
Game 2 Pivots: All players (with or without ball) are moving in space. Player with ball scans for an open receiver and passes to feet. Receiver must pass back to the different person.
Game 3 Pass to space: All players (with or without ball) are moving in space. Player with ball scans for an open receiver and passes them into space. Receivers 1st touch should be in direction they are moving. Receiver (now the passer) passes to a different target while moving with the ball.
Game 4 Switch: All players (with or without ball) are moving in space. Player with ball searches for an open receiver and passes them into space. Receivers 1st touch must be AWAY from direction of pass. Receiver (now the passer) uses as few touches as possible to orient themselves to a new target.
Progressions: Add extra balls. Add one or more defenders (different pinnie color).
Coaching points: Passer - keep head up, scan field for options. Teach: When can you do this? When you have time… How do you create time? Check away / make space. On along touch, while ball is traveling a long distance. Make Eye contact, say name of target. Receiver - Look to find space to receive (NOT in someone else's space). Indicate where to receive ball with hand motion. Create body angle that supports your passing objective, Check away/to.
