Screen 1

Organization:

  • 4 10x10 boxes, making a 20x20 playing area.

Instructions:

  • Players must pass and move around the field with their partner. 1 pt for regular pass, 3 pts for split pass.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Inside of foot, toe pointing up, hit middle of ball.
  • To receive, cushion with inside of foot on middle of ball.
  • Can you look for opportunities for split passes?
  • Pass, then scan to look for new space.
  • On receive, pick eyes up and find partner.

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P: you can pass to anyone but your partner. Same scoring system applies for passer and receiver.
  • P: can you pass to a player (not your partner) in a different square than you?

Organization:

  • Same field.
  • Two teams playing at the same time.

Instructions:

  • 4v2 rondos
  • 1 pt per pass, 2 pts for split pass.

Coaching Points/Questions:

  • Can you do all the points from the last game, but faster.
  • Can you keep your shape, and connect passes. Look for split passes.

Regressions/Progressions:

  • P: Play 3 passes and progress the ball to a new square for a point. Defenders steal the ball and counter on the goal in their square.
  • P:Play 3 passes and progress the ball to a new square. Complete 2 passes and try to score on goal (build through the thirds and play to goal quickly to score).
