ODP Week 2 2nd session (10 mins)

Captain of the Ship - General Movement:

Organization:

Set up a 20m x 20m grid. Each player has a ball. Whenever coach

asks "Pirates are you ready" the players must respond with

"Aaaaargh"

Procedure:

Players move freely within the grid. Players follow coach's

direction:

1-Salute the Captain: Raise one hand and balance on one leg

2-Rats on the deck: Preform Toe Taps

3-Raise the lifeboat: Move the ball backwards, pulling the ball

backwards using the sole of the foot.

4-Raise the sails: Move around with the ball and swing their arms

Emphasis:

Changing direction

Eye-foot coordination

Listening

Balance

Head up

Close ball control - (Dribble with pinky toe) Use both feet.

ODP Week 2 2nd session (10 mins)

Pirates of the pug - Technique

Organization:

Players are placed inside a circle with a pug net in the centre. 7 players have a soccer ball and 1 players are without a ball. The 1 players without the ball is the "Pirate"

Procedure:

Designate one player to be the pirate and give all the other players a ball. Each player‟s ball is he/her

booty. The pirate is to steal each player‟s ball and shoot it in the "treasure chests” (Pugg Net).Players are allowed to try to regain possession of their ball if stolen, but if the ball has been successfully shot the player who lost their ball now becomes a pirate too. The last player to retain their ball becomes the pirate in the next game. Ensure all players get the opportunity to become defenders.

Coaches move around the circle to ensure you see everything.

ODP Week 2 2nd session (10 mins)

Treasure Collection - Soccer Technique

Organization:

Set up a 20m x 20m grid. 7 players with a soccer ball (Pirates) and 2 players defender without a soccer ball.

Procedure:

On the coach command, the Pirates attempt to dribble past the defenders in the attempt to take the Treasure. To take the Treasure the players must pick up the cone and take it back to their standing point while dribbling the ball. If the Pirates lose the ball to the defenders, they must complete 10 toe taps and start back over at the standing point. The Pirate that collects the most Treasure wins the game. Ensure all players get the opportunity to become defenders.

Small Sided Game with retreat line

Organization:

4v4 or 5v5, four goals to score on. Retreat Line on the halfway line. Divide into 2 fields 30m x 20m.
