ORGANISATION: 4 v 2 +1 in a square zone x 2 of approx (15 x 15) adjust size if needed according to skill level. 14 players (if spare players get them to rotate after each play breaks down, on side ball juggle)
AIM: To build and maintain possession by passing the ball 'around ' the square and utilising the Bouncer i(B) n centre when needed , ultimately progressing to a "killer pass" directly opposite the player with the ball through the line.
HOW: blue players on outside pass and move along their zone (not coming inside the zone), keeping possession of ball, using the bouncer when needed. Red players try to pounce on loose pass, poor touch and win possession. When a red player wins the ball he 'swaps' psotions with Blue player. After 2 minutes swap the bouncer.
PLAYER TASKS: Keep possession through, good body shape, weight of pass, good 1st touch, communication, scanning and movement.
PROGRESSION: After the group has 'mastered ' the practice and are keeping the ball regularly (prior to next progression) have a competition between 2 zones (as using 14-15 players) to see who can achieve the most passes before losng the ball)
(i) Aim for players on outside to look to make a "killer pass' to the player directly opposite them (A > C or D > E), by passing the defending players. - encourage patince and build up to find the right time and pass. Bouncer looking to create the space so ball can be moved to opposite player.
4 v 2 + 1 + 1
SET UP: 8 Players per zone - make area according to skill set, ( look for NPL to make zone 25 m long and 10 m wide, with a 3 m channel in centre of zone 'green lines'. 2 players in Red are defending 4 players in BLUE are outside the marked zone and must not enter during the practice.
AIM: to keep the ball, moving it from end to end directional, while using outside bouncers to keep the ball
HOW: Play starts from outside Blue player (3) AND GIVES BALL INTO 1 ZONE where it becomes a 3 v 2 situation with Blue A keeping the ball by using Outsid eplayers (2,3 4), Player B in Blue stays in central Zone - Once the ball gets to Player B ibnn central zone , play can then go in next direction towards Player 1. Players A then goes into central zone and players 2 & 3, asssit player B in a 3 v 2 situation as the red defenders try to win ball.
Play continues end to end keeping the ball and moving it fast up each end. BUT play can not progress until playe rincentral zone ahs a tiouch and then plays to new end, players adjust quickly.
After several minutes SWAP red players for blue providing all players an opportunity to play different roles during practice.
IF RED team win ball, play stops and re sets with game starting on the outside and RED team becomes the team in Possession uising outsid eplayers.
COACHING POINTS: Scanning, good 1st touch, player movemetn OFFthe ball, wher eis the NEXT pass, communication
PROGRESSION: When RED team win ball, make game continue and players transition quickly.
