Grade 12 Warm-Up (10 mins)

THE SESSION: U12 Warm Up

 

Set up:

- 3 lines of cones spaced 10 metres apart

- Split players into even groups (including GK's)

- The first player of each group moves forward

- The next player in line goes once first player reaches middle cone

- 2 reps of each Players will perform the following exercises:

- Jog through up and back

- Open gate (10m) into close gate (10m)

- Side step (10m) then swap direction halfway

- Carioca (10m) then swap direction halfway

- Alternating 1 leg skip (20m)

- Jog into diaganol shuffle at half way

- Quick sharp small steps forward then back to line and then forward 75% run to end

- Jog forward (10m) then sprint at halfway (10m)

- Stationary start 20m sprint

**U12 lunges, hamstring raises and squats not required**

 

Find partner and space:

- Arm on shoulder and swing leg across switch leg after 20 seconds

- Arm on shoulder and perform hamstring kicks

 

Players should now complete any other relevant stretches

- advise them on these to ensure appropriate technique.

Try to make it a dynamic stretch

Sprints (10 mins)

THE SESSION: Explosive Preperation Exercises

 

Sprints - 8x40mtr 1 set include ball a ball at each end

35 second rest between each sprint 4mins rest between next activity

Players to work in pairs

Possession (15 mins)

The Session:

 

Setup

Size of grid (6 x 8 per defender)

6v6 neutral at both ends as wall players

Play 3x2min games with 2 min rest in between

Coach plays ball in to start

Balls out re-start from coach (minimum stopages)

Wall players only have max 2 touch

Rotate wall passers every repetition

Vertical pass to be played as quickly as possible

2 v 2 Defending (20 mins)

THE SESSION: 

Play 3 x 4mins with 2 mins rest in between

2v2 into mini goals.

Coach serves to either team, attacking team can score in either of the two mini goals facing them, if attacking team scores they get the next ball served to them. If defenders win the ball back can counter attack and score in either of the attackers mini goals.

Once the ball goes dead four players playing quickly clear the pitch and the next four players come on. 

Competition first team to 10.

 

KEY POINTS: 

-Use prominent LFC role models (VVD)

Defender (1)

- press the attacker as quick as possible.

- don't sell yourself / dive in.

- think about distance away from attacker that you apply breaks / slow down. 

Defender (2)

- Communicate to defender (1) directing him which way to show attacker, outside or inside.

- Sprint out to support defender (1)

- Awareness to cover passing line into mini goal B

- Close enough distance to cover defender 1 if beaten by forward move but not over covering and able to apply pressure if attacker passes to his team mate.

All In Game (35 mins)

THE SESSION: Conditioning Game 8v8 or 7v7

 

Set-Up

8 v 8

Play 3 x 10min games with 2 min rest between

Encourage players to work on the 5 key habits, Open Body, 3 Checks, Movement to receive, Break the Line and style pass

Attacking team are looking to play forward as quickly as possible and exploit space behind defenders

Defending team are looking to stay compact and not get outplayed, can they set block as quickly as possible.

If the ball is lost in attacking third can we press and win ball back quickly.

If defender is in 1v1 situation can they win the ball, if not remmeber 4 D's, deny, delay, deflect adn destroy.
