GU8 Passing and Receiving

Organization:
-10-12 plaeys
-Area approx. 15x15 yards (adapt for numbers/ability of players)
-8 markers, 5 bibs, 10-12 balls
2 teams of roughly equal numbers.
Team 1 - has a ball for the whole team.
Team 2 - every player has a ball each.
Team 1 has to pass their ball from teammate to teammate and move around the area.
Team 2 dribble their balls and move around the area trying to intercept the passing/cause interference to Team 1.
Variations/Progression:
-Move passing team (Team 1) to the outside of the area - now play their passes through the area.
-Move an attacking player inside the area to link up play
-Add a defender from thedribbling team (Team 2) to track the inside attacker
Coaching points:
Play with head up, Movement – use the dribbler’s movement as triggers, Exploit space, Choice of pass, Communication, Close control, Disguised passing

-Supply of balls, 5-6 bibs, 2 mini-nets, 1 big goal, 8 cones
Play starts with coach passing into defender - who receives and passes into one of the attackers - who then play 2v1 to goal. Offside is in effect. If defender wins ball can counter-attack the two min-nets. Rotate defenders regularly.
Progression:
-Add a trailing defender if tempo to goal is slow

-2v2 small-sided game with 2 floating neutral players creating 3v2 situations. Rotate the floating players frequently

Arrival Activity/Warm-Up (10 mins)

Players dribble through throughout the area to and from different pylons. Practicing ball mastery skills, 1v1 moves, and keep-ups.
Coaching Points:
-Agility, balance, changing speeds/directions
-Close control, lots of touches, use of moves, changes of speed/directions
-Awarness of space/players around them
