Progression to 2v2
Same exercise, with 4 players on the field at one time.
Teams break out together once a shot makes it beyond the goal line. Team that defended the shot retrieves the ball and joins their team again. Ball always enter from the same position.
Having players enter from the wide areas often allows them to break quickly with a 'counter attack' style and usually offers lots of room to run into with the attacking team in positions near the goal, allowing them chances to work on recovery runs.
This can be extended to 3v3 with 2 goals at each end. Layout as above with a player added to each team in between the 2 goals, which are set 1/3 of the goal line apart. This lets attacking players make different decisions on which area to attack based on where players are on the field instead of 'down the middle'.
Always a fun one to coach with its fast pace. Hopefully the girls enjoy this one.

1v1 Exercise (15 mins)
Players begin 1v1 in box (dependent on age, for u10 - 15x10 yards approx)
Whenever there is a shot that goes beyond the goal line, defending player recovers the ball and joins their team line. Once the ball is over the line, next players for defending team comes on to the field from their corner cone and attacks 1v1 "in transition" against the player who had the shot at goal previously. You can make it competitive (timed game, 4/5 minutes for a game) once the girls understand the pattern between when to leave the field and when to run on at speed.
Game continues. As players become quicker, turnover of players becomes sharp and it is then a conditioning exercise too (don't tell the players this).
