Title: Transition in the low block - Defending the crossing zone. (8:05-8:25)
Aim: Put players in a setting where they're role in the back 5 when defending from the crossing zone is clearly defined.
Organization: Mid 3 circulate the ball in midfield without pressure - at any point the can play forward in behind into the crossing zone. First 5 minutes let the pass through be free, once group has an idea then the game is live. Back five get a point by successfully clearly the ball high and over the 3 midfielders / to the halfway line.
Coaching point / plan for failure:
8:09 - 5/4 will fail to slide over to create a 2v1 in the channel - Discuss roles and R&R of 3/5 & 4/2
8:15 - 10/8/7 will fail to get tight, move their feet and keep the opponent in front of them
8:20 - Back 5 will fail to clear the ball over the half way line - 9's must shift over.
8:22 - Back 5 will fail to get up & will have to be told to 'get up / out' - discuss how this needs to become an automatic reaction.
Progression: Add a long diagonal ball from the opposite sideSee the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Situational Play: 9v6 - 1-0 up - Block Defending - (8:25-8:45)
Aim: Put players in an environment where they understand where & why we implement a low block? Plus educating when we use the 5-3-2 vs 5-4-1 (Our high block vs Low Block)
Answer: Where? - between the two D's Why? Frustrate a technically & physically superior team or hold onto a lead.
Notes: When defending in a 5-4-1 understand that the 2 & 3 must defending from outside their 11/7.
Coaching Points / Plan for failure:
8:30 - 5/4 will fail to slide over to create a 2v1 in the channel - Discuss roles and R&R of 3/5 & 4/2
8:35 - 10/8/7 will fail to get tight, move their feet and keep the opponent in front of them

Title: Accelerations & Over the River (7:55-8:05)
Aim: Put players in a setting where keeping the game in front of you & not getting split is the idea of fun / success.
Coaching Points:
Using inside of our foot to block the ball - biggest surface area.
Tucking in and being narrow - communication with those in your line.
Body positioning when approaching opponent - touchline is our friend.
