RUSHino (10 mins)

3v3 Mini Soccer Warm-up:

Grid: 32 x 25 Yards with 6 yard end zones.

- 3 minute Games

- Can only score if shot is taken inside penalty area.

- Restarts by dribbling or passing the ball in

- if ball goes out of bound, first player to goes and get it starts with it

Progression:

i. Each Player must touch ball once since team won possession before scoring

What is the best way for the attacking team to score several times in successsion?

Immediately after scoring, the scorer shouldn't try to run with the ball but should play it to a teammate who has made a run into space in midfield. All players who helped in the move that led to the goal should put distance between themselves and the ball and run into space in the opposing team's half of the field.

Station 1: 2v1 With Two Wide Goals (15 mins)

2v1 with Two Wide Goals: Field 12 x 15 yards.2 defenders with 4-6 attackers.

Rules:

- Two players with a ball situated in the center of the field attack the wide goals, each defended by one opponent only.

- The pair keep track of how many times they score.

- Objective is for attacker to dribble across the opposing goal-line despite the opponent's active defence of it

- After 10 attacks or 90 seconds of attacking, both teams switch roles and positions.

- The pair that scores the most goals wins

*Winning pair play against another winning pair, losing pair find another losing pair.

An attack toward one goal finishes when:

- the defender has touched the ball three times

- one of the attackers has managed to dribble the ball across the goal-line

- one attack infringes the rules

- the ball runs across any end-line

Coaching Points: (very little, let them play)

U9&U10: Spacing, spacing, and spacing! -Which foot are we receiving with? Are we taking a positive touch?

Station 3: Passing & Receiving (15 mins)

Technical Warm-up cont.: Passing & Receiving

A. Passing & Receiving: Grid: 30x20; 9 players in grid, 4 balls

i. Payers pass ball to open player and then go and find someone else. (address coaching points in between variations)

ii. Players pass the ball 6-8 yards long (2-3 touches > what will make this possible? Peaking before receiving)

iib. Check to the ball. Call for it, eye contact, hand gestures.

iii. Players now have to make 10 yard passes or longer, (have players look beyond ten yards before receiving it. why? > speed of play, longer you take the easier it is for defenders to close down and win ball)

iv. Players have to accelerate outside of box with ball. Then dribble back in and find another player.

Coaching points: scan (should know who you are passing to before you receive it), communicate to person you're passing to with verbal and non-verbal cues (don't think that they can just call a name and expect them to be open if they haven't looked up; players who miss it pass or don't call name ) knees bent, arms out away from body,

*hips open and receive ball across body, checking to the player with the ball, hands open showing to feet, eye contact with the player, etc.
